K9Copy

K9copy is a DVD authoring program and is generally seen as a Linux equivalent of the Windows-based DVD Shrink.

It compresses the contents of a dual layer DVD (DVD -9) in order to burn it to a single-layer DVD (DVD -5) can. This is achieved by the video track is re-encoded or content such as audio tracks individual language versions, bonus features, subtitles, menus are omitted.

The program allows you to save DVD as ISO image to the hard drive. This image can then be burned to a DVD by using a burning program such as Brasero or K3b. Since version 2 k9copy relies on KDE4.

K9copy can be installed directly from the standard package sources at some popular Linux distribution such as Ubuntu.

In July 2011 it was announced that no more further development takes place.
