Kabang District
Amphoe Kabang ( Thai: อำเภอ กา บัง ) is the westernmost district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of Yala Province. The Yala province is located southeast of the southern region of Thailand, at the border to Malaysia.
Geography
Adjacent counties and regions are ( from north-west clockwise): Amphoe Saba Yoi in the province of Songkhla and Amphoe Yaha in Yala province. In the south of the state of Kedah is Malaysia.
History
The name Kabang is a Thai adaptation of " Kabae " or " Kabe ", the original Malay name. " Kabae " or " Kabe " is a kind of rambutan tree.
Kabang was on 1 April 1991 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the area of today's district was separated from Amphoe Yaha. On October 11, 1997 Kabang got the full Amphoe status.
Management
Amphoe Kabang is divided into two subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 17 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.
There are also two " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
