Kabukichō, Tokyo

Kabukicho (Japanese歌舞 伎 町) is a district in Tokyo's Shinjuku district, which is primarily known as a red light district. The district begins just behind the east exit of Shinjuku Station. In the forties a Kabuki theater to be built in the area. The theater was not built, the name stuck.

Kabukicho offers a variety of entertainment establishments, in addition to Hostess Bars and Izakaya, night clubs, restaurants, cinemas, karaoke bars, love hotels, and amusement arcades. It is known primarily for the facades full of neon signs.

In the near Kabukicho Shinjuku ni -chome is also a gay district.

Literally the quarter was "In the Miso Soup ' by Ryu Murakami 's novel set in a socio-critical monument.

In Kabukicho 1 -chome Shinjuku 's town hall and the railway station Seibu -Shinjuku lie. The zip code of Kabukicho is 160-0021. In the 2005 census, Kabukicho (1 - and 2- chome ) had 2,298 inhabitants.
