The Kabul ( altind. Kubhā, ancient Greek Cophen Κωφήν, Arabic نهر كابل; Nahr Kabul " Kabul River "; Pashto کابل سيند Kabul Sindh ) is a right ( west ) side of the Indus River about 460 kilometers in length. It supplies the basin of Kabul as well with water as the area around Jalalabad and Peshawar. Important tributaries are Panjshir and Kunar. The Kabul and its tributaries are among the few rivers of Afghanistan, which ultimately flow into the sea.

Its source, in Sanglakh Mountains near the Unai Pass, located just west of Kabul in Afghanistan in the Koh -e Paghman District Jalrez Wardak province. It flows south past the Kabul Kabul Zoo. After he has overflowed the political border to the north of Pakistan Khyber Pass, it flows at Attock in the Sindh ( Indus = ). He is mentioned in the Rigveda.
