Kadirli

Kadirli is a town and capital of the eponymous district in the Turkish province of Osmaniye. Kadirli is the largest county Osmaniyes and is located in the west of the province in the Çukurovaregion. The district borders the provinces of Adana and Kahramanmaras. The city has 83 618 and County 117 124 inhabitants ( 2012).
In ancient Roman times and in the Byzantine period it was known as Flavius or Flaviopolis, later he was known as Kars -ı Zulkadriye or shorter Kars. This name appears for the first time in the 13th century. Another name was Pazarköy or Kars Pazarı. Since 1928 the present name is official.
Attractions
The Alacami the eastern suburbs on a hill is a converted 15th century to a mosque early Byzantine church and the oldest building in town. From the end of the 5th or early 6th century basilica built in the apse and outer walls remained.
In the district Kadirli is the late Hittite archaeological site Karatepe Arslantaş.
