Kagerou (Band)

Kagerou (Japanese蜉蝣) was a Japanese visual kei rock band. It was founded in September 1999 by vocalist Daisuke, and bassist MASAYA; soon came also the guitarist Yuana it. First, Kagerou was the label Loop Ash under contract and then moved in 2000 to Lizard, belonging to the Free- Will Co.. Kagerou reached in the following years a certain popularity within the Japanese visual - kei scene and undertook in 2005 a first European tour to Germany and France.

In September 2006, Kagerou announced at a live performance of their resolution, which took place in January 2007. On December 27, 2006, an album was released with their greatest hits, which bears the title Shinjuuka. They gave their last concert on 8 January 2007 at Zepp Tokyo.

Style

Kagerou are attributable to the Visual Kei, a style which is characterized by a dark, androgynous appearance. Compared to other bands of this genre their occurrence was much easier and kept discreet, nevertheless, Kagerou saw as a visual kei band.

At the beginning of their activities, however, her appearance had been made ​​much more blatant, especially during their time with an independent label. At that time they would have been able to assign the Angura Kei most likely, but also combined elements of Eroguro and Visual Kei.

Name

The band name Kagerou is the Japanese term for mayfly, so a short-lived insect. The allusion refers to the short life of the insect, as vocalist Daisuke had no high life expectancy because of a heart condition and the band would not exist for the "eternity". The kanji for蜉蝣Kagerou is older and is no longer used today in Japan in everyday life.
