The University of Kagoshima (Japanese鹿 児 岛 大学, Kagoshima daigaku, in short: Kadai (鹿 大) ) is a state university in Japan. The main campus is located in Kōrimoto, Kagoshima in Kagoshima Prefecture.

History

The origin of the university is founded by Satsuma - Han 1773 school Zōshikan (造 士 馆, dt about " Academy of Education of the Samurai" ). Although the school was closed in the Meiji period (1871 ), it was rebuilt in 1878 after the Satsuma Rebellion as a prefectural high school. 1901 she became the state 's Seventh High School Zōshikan (第七 高等学校 造 士 馆, Dai- Gakko shichi Kōtō Zōshikan ). It was located in the former castle Kagoshima and served as a preparatory course for the Imperial Universities. Wilhelm Süss taught German from 1923 until 1928. 1946 after the Pacific War it was renamed the seventh high school.

1949, the public schools were merged in Kagoshima Prefecture Kagoshima university, and the prefectural schools to the prefecture of Kagoshima University (鹿 児 岛 県 立 大学, Kagoshima kenritsu daigaku ).

  • The Seventh Upper School,
  • The agricultural and forestry business school Kagoshima (鹿 児 岛 农林 専 门 学校, Kagoshima Norin Gakko Semmon, founded in 1908 ),
  • The normal school Kagoshima (鹿 児 岛 师范学校, Kagoshima shihan Gakko, founded in 1876 ),
  • Youth Normal School Kagoshima (鹿 児 岛 青年 师范学校, Kagoshima his shihan Gakko, founded in 1924 ), and
  • Fisheries management school Kagoshima (鹿 児 岛 水产 専 门 学校, Kagoshima Suisan Semmon Gakko founded 1946).

The merged to Kagoshima Prefecture University schools were:

  • The prefectural Medical School, Kagoshima (県 立 鹿 児 岛 医科大学, Kenritsu Kagoshima ika daigaku, founded in 1869 as a medical school of Satsuma - han ), and
  • The prefectural technical Kagoshima (鹿 児 岛 県 立 工业 専 门 学校, Kagoshima kenritsu Kōgyō Semmon Gakko founded 1945).

The University of Kagoshima was opened with four faculties: humanities and natural sciences, education, agronomy, and fisheries. 1955, the Prefecture University was merged into Kagoshima University. Since 1959, all faculties are (except medicine, dentistry and fisheries) in Kōrimoto campus, in the former seat of the agricultural and forestry school.
