Kai Frobel
Kai frobel is a German Geoökologe and conservationists. He is the initiator of the project " Green Belt".
Career
Frobel grew up in the Upper Franconian market Mitwitz. Within sight of his home, the facilities of the inner-German border were. As a youth he studied in 1975, the bird life on the border strip and recognized its importance as a refuge for endangered species.
He completed his university studies with a degree in geo-ecologist and his doctorate in 1997 at the Department of biogeography at the University of Bayreuth. Today he works as a wildlife conservation officer at the federal nature conservation.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he organized in December 1989 in Hof, the first all-German meeting with conservationists from the Federal Republic and the GDR. There the idea was born to expel the border strip as a protected area, in the conservation project " Green Belt Germany " and later " European Green Belt " resulted. Frobel he has since the BUND for the project.
Honors and Awards
In 2009 he received the Bavarian Constitution Medal in silver.
