Kai Gehring

Kai Boris Gehring ( born December 26, 1977 in Mülheim an der Ruhr) is a German politician ( Alliance 90/The Greens ).

Life and career

After graduation in 1997 at the Scholl -Gymnasium in Velbert Gehring did his community service at the Evangelical - Student Community (ESG ) in Essen and graduated in 1998 a degree in Social Sciences at the Ruhr- University Bochum, which he in 2003 as a graduate social scientists ( Dipl.- Soz. -Wiss. ) finished. He lives in same-sex partnership since 2003 in Essen- Ruettenscheid.

Party

Gehring was 1998 Member of Alliance 90/The Greens and was one of the founders of the National Association of Young Greens ( GJ) in North Rhine -Westphalia, the State Executive Committee in 1999 until 2002 from 2000 to 2002 as a speaker, was a member. From 2002 to 2006, he also belonged to the state board of green national association of North Rhine -Westphalia.

Member of Parliament

Since 2005 he is member of the German Bundestag. From 2005 to 2011 he was the spokesperson for youth and higher education policies of the Alliance 90/The Greens parliamentary group. Since June 2011 he has been the spokesperson on education and higher education policy. He is a regular member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment and substitute member of the Committee on Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Kai Gehring has moved over the national list North Rhine-Westphalia in the Bundestag.

Membership in scientific bodies and organizations

Gehring is a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Student Union, the Board of Trustees of the Federal Agency for Civic Education, e the Board of Trustees of the Evangelical Studies work V. Villigst, the Board of Trustees of the Reading Foundation, the advisory board study of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the Green Academy of Heinrich Böll Foundation. He is also Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Board of the University of Hagen.
