Kail

Kail is a municipality in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Treis- carding.

Geographical location

The Moselle valley to the south, and Pommerbachtal Fellerbachtal the east and west as well as the Kailer high forest in the northwest circumscribe the historic plateau, which has been inhabited since the Stone Age.

Climate

History

The largest landowner at the site was from 1121 to 1806, the monastery of St. Kastor in carding. Beginning in 1794, Kail under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

The landmark of the village is the Catholic parish church of St. Bartholomew. It was built from 1901 to 1903 and boasts beautiful, created in bright colors stained-glass windows of the church.

Economy and infrastructure

The community Kail is dominated by agriculture, although their economic importance has declined in recent decades. A majority of the population is now employed in other industries. There are less than ten farms in the full acquisition. Due to the altitude of the place Kail is highly water-free. This was the reason for the flood of the century in 1997 to relocate its headquarters from Pomerania to Kail for the distillery Hubertus Vallendar.
