Kaisa Parviainen

Katri " Kaisa " Vellamo Parviainen ( born December 3, 1914 in Muuruvesi, Northern Savonia, † October 21, 2002 in Rauma ) was a Finnish javelin thrower. She was the first Finnish woman who was able to win a medal at the Olympic Summer Games.

She participated in 1948 in London and 1952 in Helsinki at the Olympic Games. In 1948 she won the javelin with a throw over 43.79 m silver medal. She also took part in the competition in the long jump, finishing with a jump over 5.27 m the 13th Place. In her second Olympic Games, she took part only in the javelin. However, they do not come on the 16th place out with a throw of 39.82 m.
