Kaisaniemi

Kaisa Niemi ( swedish Kajsaniemi ) is the name for a part of the center of the Finnish capital Helsinki. In general, the area between the main station and Hakaniemi is meant, in particular the area around Kaisaniemenkatu and the metro station Kaisa Niemi. Also, the park of the same one is one of Kaisa Niemi. The park is bordered to the north by the Kaisaniemenlahti ( Kaisa Niemi Bay ).

Like many other common toponyms in Helsinki also the name Kaisa Niemi official district breakdown is foreign. Officially, the area belongs essentially to the district Kluuvi.

In the park Kaisa Niemi is the Botanical Gardens Helsinki and the 1827 opened restaurant Kaisa Niemi, one of Finland's oldest restaurants. The park is often used for larger events, such as the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival.

In the Kaisaniemenkatu among others are the Kinopalatsi, the second largest cinema in the city, the cultural caisa and the main building of the Helsinki University Library.
