Kaiser Jeep

The Kaiser Jeep Corporation in Toledo ( Ohio) was created in 1963 by renaming of the Willys Motor Company. The owner of Kaiser Industries wanted to unite all of its businesses under the group name.

History

Kaiser Jeep took over the entire Jeep range, such as the Jeep CJ, Jeep FC and the Jeep Wagoneer, the Willys Motor Company.

In 1967 the company took the Jeepster back out of the woodwork, the Willys -Overland had produced from 1948 to 1950. The car was completely redesigned, but was based on the CJ. The Jeepster, there were three versions ( Roadster, Cabriolet and pickup). His success at the market held but within limits.

AMC looked around for an expansion of its product range and had already occasionally negotiated with Kaiser managers. 1970, the sale was concluded, and Kaiser Jeep became the Jeep Corporation, a 100 % subsidiary of AMC.

1987/1988 AMC Jeep and thus was taken over by Chrysler.
