Kaiserslautern Town Hall

The City Council of Kaiserslautern was inaugurated in 1968.

The design of the architect Roland Ostertag from Leonberg had emerged in 1960 from an architectural competition for the City Hall on parade ground in Mannheim as a winner, due to funding problems but only the foundations were completed (see Mannheim town house). With small changes in this design was then implemented in Kaiserslautern.

It has 25 floors above ground, which are distributed at an altitude of 84 meters, and 3241 steps. In the 22nd floor is the roof terrace. In the 21st floor is a lounge or bar with a view of the entire city. The top three floors are used only for storage purposes and operation and maintenance. Four elevators in the building core unlock all floors.

In this building, a large part of the city of Kaiserslautern administration is housed. In addition, this building houses the Notverwaltung of civil protection, which is usually at the fire department Kaiserslautern.
