Kaišiadorys
Kaišiadorys ( German, 18th Century: Kosche Daren ) is a city and seat of the Rajongemeinde in Lithuanian Kaunas district. In the township the core city is an urban district and how to seat a neighboring office. The core city has almost 10,000 inhabitants, the municipality 36,285.
In Kaišiadorys there is a circuit court, a large poultry farm, a glue factory and several smaller companies. Here is the seat of the Lithuanian Veterinary Institute. Kaišiadorys being the bishop with the Christ Church Cathedral.
History
The city's name derives from a 1590 first mentioned as Košeidarowo manor. This was apparently the Tatars Hajji Dar Momulevič.
The town developed in the 20th century to the city due to its location at a railway junction. On Kaišiadorys station, the routes from Vilnius to Riga and Kaunas branch. Today, especially the proximity to the highway Vilnius - Kaunas is a traffic engineering advantage.
Rajongemeinde
The Rajongemeinde ( Kaišiadorių rajono savivaldybė ) comprises the two cities Kaišiadorys and Žiežmariai ( 3730 inhabitants), the three towns ( miesteliai ) Kruonis, Rumšiškės and Žasliai, and 401 villages. Their biggest, Gudiena with 1664 inhabitants, is directly adjacent to the city.
