Kajaani River

The Kajaaninjoki (Swedish Kajana älv ) is a river in the Finnish countryside of Kainuu.

The about twelve kilometers long river forms the outflow of Nuasjärvi to Oulujärvi while providing the last link in a chain of lakes is, extending from Kuhmo to Oulujärvi.

Along the river the town Kajaani lies. Three hydropower plants with a total capacity of 35 MW using the gradient of the river.
