The power plant Kakanj ( Termoelektrana Kakanj ) is a coal-fired power plant with an electrical capacity of 578 MW in Kakanj (Bosnia and Herzegovina). It is situated directly on the river Bosna, whose water is used for electricity production.

The power plant was built in several stages from 1947. 1956 and 1960 were two blocks of 32 MW in operation. The third (1969 ) and fourth ( 1977) stage included per one block of 110 MW. The seventh and to date last block was built up in 1988 in collaboration with the Czechoslovak Skoda Works in 1984 and comprises a power output of 230 MW. The power plant has a 300 m high chimney.

Coal has been mined in this area since 1902, but it is converted to electricity only since 1956.
