Kalajoki

Kalajoki [ kɑlɑjɔki ] is a city in northern Finland, which has been named after the river Kalajoki, which flows through it. It is located in the countryside Nordoesterbotten and has 12,614 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012). Kalajoki lives mainly on tourism, agriculture and metal industry. Accessible to the site via the main roads 8 and 27 The nearest train station is located in Ylivieska 38 km away. Several times a day there are bus connections Kokkola - Kalajoki - Raahe - Oulu. A predominantly industrial transportation hub is the nearby port of Rahja.

Just outside of Kalajoki there are the important for tourism sand dunes ( ' Hiekkäsärkät '), at which beaches, restaurants, holiday lodgings and holiday amusement JukuPark are.

In 1973, the community was incorporated in Kalajoki Rautio, the beginning of 2010 followed Himanka.
