Kalamazoo Wings

The Kalamazoo Wings, commonly shortened to K- Wings, are an American ice hockey team from Kalamazoo, Michigan. The team plays in the ECHL since 2009. In the National Hockey League, there are collaborations with the Vancouver Canucks and St. Louis Blues.

History

The Michigan K- Wings of the International Hockey League was dissolved after the end of their cooperation with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League. Instead, the leaders of the Michigan K- Wings moved the franchise of the Madison Kodiaks of the United Hockey League to Kalamazoo, Michigan to and named it in Kalamazoo Wings, the name, the Michigan K- Wings wore originally. Their most successful season completed the team in the season 2005/ 06 when they first completed the regular season in first place in the Central Division. In the following Playoffs beating after beating the Motor City Mechanics and Rockford IceHogs in the final of the Colonial Cup, the Danbury Trashers with a 4-1 victory in the best- of-seven series.

In the season 2006/ 07, the Kalamazoo Wings defeated in the final of the Colonial Cup the Rockford IceHogs. Then they spent two more seasons in the now renamed International Hockey League League before they were included in the ECHL on 9 June 2009.

The Kalamazoo Wings are nationally known for its themed games. These include the Green Ice Game ( on St Patrick 's Day), Pink Ice Game ( Valentine's Day), Orange Ice Game ( on Halloween ) and the Golden Ice Game ( a McDonald's sponsored event ).
