The planning of the neo-Romanesque church was in the hands of the architect Friedrich Heitmann. Was built the church from 1899 to 1901 on September 9th. 1901, the church was consecrated in the presence of the imperial couple.

In the 1960s, their demolition has been provided, but the architect Yuri Vaganov could prevent this by developing a project, which provided for the conversion of the church to a puppet theater. Inside, moved 1968 to 1970 in place of the galleries a false ceiling in order to create a theater room with a stage for puppet shows. The reconstruction was completed in 1976.
