Geography

Geographical Location

Kall is on the edge of the North Eifel in the triangle of Cologne, Aachen and Trier. In the Kall Kallbach opens into the Urft. The village of Kall is surrounded by large forests. A special feature is the limestone mountain ridge, which is upstream of the village of Kall and is called by the Kallern loving rock.   • The community Kall is in the middle of the district of Euskirchen and has no limit to other circuits.

Climate

Since Kall is on the edge of the Eifel region, the climate is dominated by the rough Eifelkima. The bio-climatic conditions are favorable in the Eifel. Heat load and air humidity occur in the summer rarely. Kall has a total of a pronounced stimulating climate. Kall is a clean air area with very low air chemical pollution. On hot sunny days, sometimes resulting in increased concentration of ground-level ozone.

History

Incorporations

On 1 July 1969, the formerly independent communities Golbach, Keldenich, Sistig, Sötenich, Urft, elections and Wallenthal were incorporated.

Spin-offs

On January 1, 1972, towns that belonged to the municipal elections earlier reclassified with an area of 18.18 km ² and 925 inhabitants from Kall to Hellenthal. Other parts of the territory were ceded to the community Mechernich and to the city of Schleiden.

Since 21 October 2009, the council is composed as follows:

  • GREEN: 3 seats (± 0)

FDP and SPD have entered into a joint list and thus have the majority of votes.

The community Kall has been awarded with certificate of the provincial government in Cologne on 10 June 1974, the right to bear a coat of arms and a seal.

Blazon: " Half Split and divided by blue and gold ( yellow) to silver ( white). In the blue, sprinkled with gold ( yellow ) Lilienfeld a left inverted, growing, golden ( yellow) crowned, red bezungter, silver (white ) lion; the golden ( yellow ) field is a growing, red reinforced and bezungter black lion; in silver ( white ) field toppled two, diagonally crossed black arrows. "

The coat of arms combines the coat of arms of the former territorial rulers of today's municipal area: the lords of Schleiden and the Dukes of Jülich. The crossed arrows are the arms of the abbey of Steinfeld, the cultural and historical center of the municipality is taken.

Flag

The community Kall has been awarded with certificate of the provincial government in Cologne on June 8, 1990, the right to bear a flag as Hissflagge.

Partnership

Since 1980, a partnership between the Belgian municipality of Mol in Flanders and the community Kall.

Tourism

Kall is located in the North Eifel Nature Park and National Park - place for the national park Eifel. The area was characterized by earlier mining and metal processing, especially of iron ore and lead ores. The feel a scale in collaboration with RWTH Aachen Montan Historic Trail, the Pingenwanderpfad Kall (12 km),. Kall is also the Romans channel path from Nice to Cologne home along the Eifel aqueduct.

Worth seeing is the monastery of Steinfeld.

Hiking and Cycling

Through the territory of the municipality Kall leads the 330 km long Eifelsteig, a hiking trail from Aachen to Trier. The Stage 5 leads to the monastery of Gemuend Steinfeld, a very varied mix of forest, panoramic, valley and mountains paths. The stage 6 then from the monastery Steinfeld to Blankenheim.

Due to the location of the bike path leads Eifel- altitude route that leads as a circuit around the national park Eifel.

The bike path valleys route also runs through the village. It opens up interesting tourist places in North Rhine -Westphalia on family-friendly route.

Transport infrastructure

Road / public transport

Kall forms after its location in about the intersection between the cities of Aachen and Koblenz and Cologne and Trier, it is accessible directly via the federal highway 266. The Federal Highway 1 can be reached in a few minutes via the connection points 111 Wißkirchen ( Euskirchen ), 112 Bad Münstereifel / Mechernich or 113 Cute home.

Several bus lines of regional transport connecting Cologne Kall to the surrounding suburbs, the valley of Schleiden, Zingsheim, Mechernich and Marmagen. A majority of the rides ( except the valley of Schleiden ), however, performed by TaxiBus by telephone arrangement.

Rail transport

The Kall Bahnhof has housed since a major renovation in 2009, a Customer RVK with an information center for the national park Eifel. It lies on the Eifel circuit (Cologne - Euskirchen - Gerolstein -Trier ), and is operated passenger three lines of regional traffic.

Other stations in the municipality are Scheveningen (hourly service by the RB24 ) and Urft (two hourly service through the RE22 ). During the summer runs from the train station Kall also the Oleftalbahn ( heritage railway ) on Gemuend and Schleiden Hellenthal.

For the entire public transport system of regional collective of the transport association Rhein-Sieg and the NRW rate applies.
