Kallavesi

The Kallavesi [ kɑl ɑvɛsi ː ] is a lake in the Finnish Savo region. With an area of ​​478.1 km ² it is the largest lake in the countryside Savo and the tenth largest lake in Finland. The lake is located on the territory of the city of Kuopio and the community Siilinjärvi. The city center of Kuopio is located on a peninsula in Kallavesi.

Together with the lakes Suvasvesi, Juurusvesi, Muuruvesi, Melavesi and Riistavesi forms of Kallavesi an 890 km ² lake system, which is known as iso- Kalla. This in turn is part of the vast river system, which is drained by the Vuoksi River.
