Kalnciems

Kalnciems ( German: Kalnzeem ) is situated on the banks of the Lielupe a place in Latvia about 49 km southwest of Riga.

The place name is attested since the 16th century, however, was the former place across the river. By 2010 Kalnciems had city rights.

Ernst Johann von Biron (1690-1772), Duke of Courland and Semgallen, was born here.
