The Cold hostel at Hall Garden in the Hessian Rheingau- Taunus-Kreis is a 619.3 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Taunus. It is part of the Taunus mountains main ridge ( High Taunus) and for dominance (17 km to the next higher elevation on Salzkopf ( 627.6 m) in the west of the Rhine Bingen Forest ) and prominence (269 m above the saddle at Niederseelbach ) the second most important mountain in the Taunus and the highest mountain in the entire Rheingau mountains, the western section of the High Taunus.
Geographical location
The Cold hostel is located in the Rhein-Taunus Nature Park. While her biggest part is in the district of the City Hall garden Oestrich- angle, count their north-eastern parts of the municipal territory of Eltville; about 10 km southwest lies Rüdesheim am Rhein. Nearby towns are next to Hall garden in the south-southeast Kiedrich in the east-southeast and Stephanshausen in West southwest.

History
North of the summit ridge runs the historically significant border between the Rheingau and Untertaunus. Thus passed here since the Middle Ages for centuries the Rheingau Gebück. Heinrich Orlopp Memorial Stone
Near the Cold hostel there is a memorial stone for the Hallgartener Heinrich Förster Orlopp (* April 21, 1869 ). He was shot on September 3, 1916 elsewhere by poachers. His friends and colleagues built the monument to the Cold hostel to the ten-year anniversary of the death Orlopps.
Transport and Hiking
The peak of the Cold hostel is located far away from major roads, however, leads the county road 634, which branches off the Rhine at Oestrich- angle near the castle Reichartshausen of the trending Had home country road 3320 with a direct connection to the highway 42, up to Hall garden and then as Rebhangstraße located to the north of this village settlement on Rebhang.
