Kaltenbach is a municipality with 1243 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Zillertal valley and belongs to the district of Schwaz in Tirol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Zell am Ziller.

Geography
Kaltenbach Zillertal is in the middle on the left side of the Ziller, opposite silent, the alluvial fan of the cold stream. The municipality comprises the main town and scattered farms of the Group Emberg on the mountainside.

History
Kaltenbach was first mentioned in 1150 as " Chaltenbach ". The name refers to the onset of the 6th century settlement by the Bavarians. The Ried, the Anger and the Kaltenbach and the Ziller threatened this area again and again by mudslides and flooding that have made possible long time no development of local agriculture through.
In Kaltenbach Zillertal drug trade began with " carrier oil " in 1685 which reached soon to Switzerland and Germany. Kaltenbach starting further production created for healing oils.
An economically tourist revival began with the construction of ski lifts in the 1960s ( Emberglift ) and late 1970s (mountain railway High Ziller Valley).

On February 3, 1976, the municipality Kaltenbach was awarded a coat of arms. Blazon: " right diagonally divided by silver and blue, top half a mill wheel, down three schläglinke wave beams in confused colors. " The coat of arms is reminiscent of the former, many mills in the town.

Economy
Major industries are agriculture, tourism ( here especially winter tourism, including the ski Hochfuegen- Ziller Valley) and several commercial and industrial establishments.
Noteworthy are the international Empl vehicle GmbH with the manufacture of truck bodies and specialized fire fighting vehicles, the window work by Rieder GmbH & Co KG and food wholesalers Braunegger KG.
Traffic
Kaltenbach is connected via the Zillertal B 169 and a stop of the Zillertal Railway. In addition, Kaltenbach also the northern terminus of the summit section of the Zillertal High Road be approached.

The ski Hochzillertal- joining is accessible from Kaltenbach from the cable car ski center Hochzillertal!
