Kalundborg Transmitter

The radio station Kalundborg in the same town on the Danish island of Zealand is a receivable in Germany long-wave transmitter.

It will be sent several times a day on the longwave frequency 243 kHz in amplitude modulation.

Long-wave transmitter

As a transmitting antenna for long- wave are two 1927 built, detached, grounded tower lamp with triangular cross-section of 118 m height used. The overhead roof capacity wires are fed by the transmitter at one end and are connected to the resonance coils with the towers. The resulting large antenna currents are derived on the towers in the earth ( Alexanderson antenna). Therefore, it calls for lesser height than conventional long-wave antennas.

As of October 2008, the long wave was taken 243 kHz in digital mode DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale ) for a few months with a reduced output after the analog long wave broadcasts were adjusted with 300 kW of power in 2007. As a result, the long -wave antenna has been rebuilt and maintained from the original eight emitter wires only two. Also in 1954 attached to the spiers trusses were removed and thus relieves the towers. The old analog longwave transmitter took over the program with 300 kW from 16 to 31 October 2009 and was kept ready for use. In the summer of 2011, the Danish Broadcasting decided to favor the long wave abandon the medium wave broadcasting 243 kHz. Thus since then are sea-weather forecasts, news, a gymnastics show to hear nautical news, as well as occasional special programs on long wave with 50 kW. It broadcasts in analog AM mode.

Former medium-wave transmitter

For the medium wave transmitter in 1951 erected 147 m high, insulated against ground, even radiant transmission tower was used as an antenna. The location next to the sea and consequently good conductivity of the soil optimized the spread of the radiated electromagnetic waves from him.

The medium wave mast which had not been active since June 2011, was blown up on 20 June 2012.

TV - gap-fillers

The station also serves as Kalundborg Fernsehfüllsender for the nearby city of Kalundborg. Today Danish DVB- T TV ( digital) comes from this location, formerly aired from here also analog television.
