Kalypso Media

The Kalypso Media GmbH is a German games software companies and publishers.

History

Kalypso Media was founded by Simon Hellwig and Stefan Marcinek in Worms in the summer of 2006.

Just one year after its founding, in the summer of 2007, a branch office in Bracknell in the UK and in June 2009 was also a branch in Baltimore - founded (USA) - now Ridgewood, New Jersey. The Calypso also founded in the UK in summer 2009 Media Digital Ltd. is responsible for the online marketing of their own games and products from other vendors. According to information worldwide are now working with Kalypso Media about 120 employees.

Kalypso Media also operates several of its own development studios. In October 2008 Kalypso founded the subsidiary Realmforge Studios GmbH, based in Munich. Boxed Dreams, developer of the Adventures Ceville was thereby fully integrated into the new company.

After the well-known computer game developer Ascaron from Gütersloh had to file for bankruptcy in June 2009, Kalypso Gaming Minds Studios GmbH founded, also based in Gütersloh, in which 15 former employees were taken over by Ascaron. Kalypso had also acquired the trademark rights to many game franchises of Ascaron, which is now further developed by Gaming Minds.

After the Berlin Games Manufacturer The Games Company in July 2010 had to file for bankruptcy, Kalypso took over in September, the rights to some brands of the insolvent company (including Demonicon & Uciti ). 17 employees of which also belong to The Games Company studio Silver Style Entertainment have also been adopted and are now working in the newly established studio in Berlin: Noumena Studios. According to the official press release, the studio will be increased to 35 employees.
