Kambs is a municipality in the district of Bollewick Mecklenburg Lake District Mecklenburg -Vorpommern. In the formerly independent municipality of 260 inhabitants ( 31 December 2007) at 13.95 km ².

Geography

The village Kambs is in the Mecklenburg Lake District between Robel / Müritz and the upper Eldetal. The hilly terrain around Kambs reaches 85 m above sea level. NN. The city Robel / Müritz is about six kilometers away.

History

The first written mention of the village Kambs dated from the year 1320. It explains that the Röbeler provost falls to the Prince of Werle and in turn Bishop Henry III. Havel mountain receives the patronage of the church Kambser. The church and the preacher widow's house is about 50 years older than the aforementioned certificate. The domination of Kambs changed hands several times between Brandenburg and Mecklenburg bishops.

The Kambser rectory was the manor house built in the 18th century as a single-storey timber-framed building in 1800. The 1930s brought an increase in population by the settlement of new farmers. In the former manor house in the district Wildkuhl today has a living and working community their home, which maintains an organic farm.

The community Kambs, which included the district Wildkuhl, was dissolved on 7 June 2009 and amalgamated with Bolle Wick. Last honorary mayor of Kambs was Willi Wendt.

Economy and infrastructure

Kambs is characterized always by agriculture. In recent years, a community center with daycare and child and youth center was founded in a former outbuilding of the estate.

Kambs is on the running in a north-south direction connecting road from Robel / Müritz to Wittstock / Dosse. North of the village leads the federal highway 198 from Plau am See via the nearby motorway junction Robel of the federal motorway 19 (Berlin- Rostock) to Neustrelitz.
