Kambsdalur

Kambsdalur or á Ytra Dali is the most recent place of the Faroe Islands and is located on the east coast Eysturoys.

The name has the valley from the mountain Kambur. The terrain was bought in 1981 by the Fuglafjørður municipality. On October 5, 1985 here drew in their first inhabitants. On 1 January 2005 41 single family homes were counted with 170 inhabitants here.

Kambsdalur has developed within a very short time to a service center. Here you will find a sports center, a wood shop, many workshops, and especially the regional school center. The school center was opened in 1990 and next to a high school also includes a trade school. 25 teachers teach about 160 students here.

Kambsdalur enjoys a very high number of employees and is conveniently located between the relatively large neighboring towns Fuglafjørður, Gøta, Leirvík, Runavík and last but not least the northern islands metropolis Klaksvík.

The bus to Fuglafjørður runs ten times daily. In Kambsdalur is a scout hall, can stay in the groups. A moderate hiking trail leads 3.5 km over the mountain to Skálafjørður.
