Kambuzia Partovi

Kambuzia Partovi (Persian کامبوزیا پرتوی; born 1955 ) is an Iranian film director and screenwriter.

Life

Partovi was born in 1955 near Rostam Abad on the Caspian Sea. After studying theater studies, he wrote screenplays initially mainly for television series. His feature film debut as a director, he was in 1988 with Golnar. His film Café Transit was selected in 2007 as an Iranian candidate for an Oscar nomination for best foreign language film.

In addition, Partovi is mainly known for his collaboration with Jafar Panahi. So he wrote the screenplay for Panahi's film The Circle, which was awarded the Golden Lion in Venice. In 2013, their combined Pardé film premiered at the International Film Festival in Berlin. Due to the restrictions imposed by the Iranian authorities departure prohibition Panahi Partovi had to accept alone the awarded by the International Jury Award for Best Screenplay. The Iranian Ministry of Culture described the film as "illegal " and put a protest against the screening of the film at the Berlinale. Since films in Iran should be rotated only with permission and distributed, submits that this statement by the Vice - Minister of Culture Javad Schamaghdari " an offense ".
