The 758 km long Kamchatka (Russian Камчатка ) is the longest river of the peninsula in the Russian Far East.

It rises in the south of the Sredinny - ridge and flows from there to the north north-easterly direction through the reamed by her lowlands to the north of the Vostochny - comb ( East Ridge ) and the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano to turn sharply to the east. The river is navigable in the lower reaches for ocean-going vessels. A little further east it opens at Ust- Kamchatka in the Pacific Ocean. Important tributaries are Kensol, Andrijanowka, Schupanka, Kosyrewka and Jelowka from left, as well as Kitilgina, Wachwina Lewaja, Urz and Schtschapina from the right. Small towns along the river are Kozyrevsk, Kljutschi and Ust- Kamchatka.

The landscape along the Kamchatka is characterized by so-called " Cold winter deciduous and mixed forest ".
