Kamen Kalev

Kamen Kalev ( Kamen Kalev also written, Bulgarian Камен Калев; * 1975 in Burgas, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian director.

Kamen Kalev was born in 1975 on the Black Sea. After the conclusion of the French secondary school in Burgas two years he studied cinematography at the Bulgarian film and art school ( NATFIZ ) in Sofia. He then went to Paris, where he continued his studies at the renowned French film school La fémis. In 2002 he graduated from the French University.

Kalews first short film works received, among other invitations Film Festival Sarajevo, Berlin, New York, Stockholm. He is also the author of more than 60 commercial and musical clips.

2005 and 2007, together with Dimitar Kalev Mitowski the productions not warned SÄKA ( Bulg Върнете заека / dt "Bring back the hare " ) and Loschijat Saek ( Bulg Лошият заек / dt " The evil bunny " ) on the film festival of Cannes before.

2009 Kalews feature film debut was Iztotschni Piesi ( Bulg Източни пиеси / dt "Eastern plays" narrow. " Eastern Plays " ), included in the official program of the Film Festival of Cannes, in addition to the number of Directors' Fortnight. This was the first Bulgarian film production since 1990, which was shown at Cannes. The Bulgarian premiere took place in Burgas on 6 October 2009. The film was nominated for the Film Award of the Euro Parliament Lux in 2009. At Film Festival in Estoril, Portugal, the film won the Special Jury Prize.
