Kamenice nad Lipou

Kamenice nad Lipou ( German: Kamnitz in Linde ) is a small town on the KAMENICE in Okres Pelhřimov in the Czech Highlands Region.

History

The city was built around a Kamenice founded before 1248 by the noble family of Beneschau same castle. The municipality lying under the castle received town rights in 1348. In the Hussite Wars, the city was fought, in 1462, she received advanced city rights. Since 1541 the nickname nad lipou is busy ( in Linde ), according to a lime tree beside the castle. This castle was rebuilt into a renaissance castle 1580-1583, 1744 Baroque and Classicism period 1839-42 adapted to the taste.

In Kamenice lived up to the Second World War, a large Jewish community, which from 1843-1897 maintained its own school and 1937/38, was built by the last synagogue in the area of ​​Czechoslovakia.
