Kamiel Maase

Kamiel Maase ( born October 20, 1971 in Nijmegen) is a Dutch long-distance runner.

In 1997, he put on his first national record when he ran the 10,000 m in 27:35,72 min. In 1999 he improved on that mark 27:34,02 min. At the World Athletics Championships 1997 in Athens, he was over this distance eleventh, at the 1999 World Championships in Seville eighth.

He was at the Rotterdam Marathon in 2:10:09 eleventh hour on his debut over this distance was also in 1999. In a marathon, the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, he finished 13th place. In the same year he succeeded another national record in the 5000m ( 13:14,13 min).

At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, he finished tenth, and at the end of this year he was European Vice- Champion in cross-country running. At the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002, he was fifth in the 5000m and ninth in the 10,000 m. In the same year he improved the national records over these distances to the current brands of 13:13,06 27:26,29 min and min.

2003 saw his first national record in road races: 30 km in 1:30:20 h In the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis, he was eighth in the 10,000 m, and the Amsterdam Marathon, he improved sixth of the 23 -year-old Dutch record by Gerard Nijboer to 2:08:31 h

At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he took up the 10,000 m, finishing in 14th place. An injury prevented participation in the 2005 World Championships, but he was in the marathon at the European Championships 2006 in Gothenburg ninth.

In 2007 he scored in ninth at the Amsterdam Marathon with 2:08:21 h another national record, and the marathon of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, he came on the 39th place.

So far, he was seven times national champion over 5,000 m, even in the half marathon, marathon three times and eight times in cross country (as of early 2008 ).
