Kamitakai District, Nagano

Kamitakai -gun ( Japanese:上 高井 郡, dt " top - Takai -gun " ) is a county ( gun) in Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu. It has an area of 117.57 km ², 18 578 inhabitants and thus a population density of 158 inhabitants per km ² (as of 1 February 2010). It consists of the town ( machi ) Obuse and the village ( mura ) Takayama.

History

Kamitakai -gun came into being on January 14, 1879 by a division of Takai -gun Kamitakai -gun and Yamanouchi-machi ( " sub - Takai -gun "). Seat of the then existing county government was the city Suzaka. Since April 1, 1889 Kamitakai -gun had a town and 14 villages. On 1 July 1922, the districts Koyama and Sakata of the village were the city of Toyooka Suzaka slammed. The only merger of entire communities before the Second World War took place on 1 December 1936. Before the great territorial reform of the 1950s Kamitakai -gun had a town and 13 villages. On February 1, 1954, the village became a town Obuse. By the year 1960, the number of municipalities in Kamitakai -gun has been greatly reduced. Through mergers, this number dropped to two cities and two villages. Two further mergers on 16 October 1966, on 30 April 1971, the number of municipalities decreased Kamitakai -gun on the current number. From the large territorial reform in recent years ( heisei daigappei ) was Kamitakai -gun not affected until now.
