Kamla Persad-Bissessar

Kamla Persad - Bissessar ( born April 22, 1954 in Siparia ) is a politician in Trinidad and Tobago since 2010 and Prime Minister of their country.

Life

Persad - Bissesar visited the Mohess Road Hindu School, Erin Road Presbyterian School and Siparia Union Presbyterian School. After her schooling studied Persad - Bissessar, among others, at the University of the West Indies law. Since 1995, sits Persad - Bissessar as deputies in the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago.

On 24 May 2010, she won the elections with its coalition of several opposition parties. Persad - Bissessar is chairman of the party United National Congress ( UNC). As Prime Minister she took over from her predecessor Patrick Manning.

Persad - Bissessar is married and has a son. It is the Hindu faith.

On November 24 2011 she has said that security forces foiled an attack on them and other members of the government. Twelve people were arrested. The Mayor of Port of Spain Louis Lee Sing and Vincent Cabrera, president of the union of the bank and insurance employees, expressed the suspicion that the allegations served to a force since August 21, state of emergency on the planned end on December 5th also to extend.
