Kammer Canal

The chamber Canal is a canal in the district of Mecklenburg Lake District (Mecklenburg- Vorpommern). It connects the Zierker lake at Neustrelitz with the Woblitzsee in Wesenberg. In his route has been expanded to 1790 Gorbach between the lake and the Zierker Woblitzsee for " Torfflößer channel". The further expansion of the chamber duct was performed in the years 1840 to 1843 to tie Neustrelitz in the Upper Havel waterway. The water level of the lake was lowered by the Zierker construction since 1790 to 1.60 meters. The remaining difference in level is in the lock chamber in Voßwinkel channel, 1.2 km above the Woblitzsees, balanced.

The chamber channel ( KaK ) is a section of the 97 kilometer long waterway Federal Upper Havel Waterway ( OHW ) of the waterway class I with a length of 5.25 kilometers; responsible is the Waterways and Shipping Office Eberswalde.

As at 1920, the Havel between Woblitzsee and Priepertsee was expanded with a longer parallel to Havel running sluice channel for the lock Wesenberg, came for the entire section between the two lake also on the name chamber channel. To avoid confusion, the Ministry of Transport decided in 1936 that only the section between Zierker lake and Woblitzsee can be described that way, as the 7 kilometers long Wesenberger section to almost six kilometers is not a channel path.
