Kammerchor Carmina Mundi

Carmina Mundi is a mixed choir, which was founded in 1983 on the initiative of Harald Nickoll. Since then devotes a circle of non- professional musicians from the Aachen area of challenging choral music - from the beginnings of polyphony to works of contemporary composers.

The choir is primarily concerned with the a cappella music in order to concentrate on the work at a balanced sound image in just intonation can. The repertoire includes sacred and secular choral music of different countries, cultures and eras, which is also reflected in the name (Latin carmina mundi: Songs of the World ). A focus of the present work is the development of contemporary choral music.

In addition to the busy schedule of concerts, the choir has also performed several times abroad ( inter alia to France, Estonia, Argentina, Brazil), Carmina Mundi has recorded several CDs for the international market, which mainly 20th century compositions to are heard.

For his tireless quest for a perfect choral sound Carmina Mundi was awarded numerous prizes in national and international competitions, including most recently the first place in the 7th German Choir Competition (Kiel, 2006) in the category of mixed choirs from 37 contributors.
