History

Kammerstein takes first documentary mention in 1235. When Emperor Frederick II in 1235 is from Italy to Germany, the Reichsministeriale Ramungus (I.) is called for the first time after the on royal estate situated Kammerstein Castle " Ramungus de Kamer stone ". Apparently this castle had meanwhile been built as a new headquarters for the administration of the Schwabacher royal property. 1241 is Ramungus Landrichter to Eger and thus rank equal with the Nuremberg Reichsbutigler. He died in 1260 at the age of about 70 years.

In the past here there was a significant imperial castle. Although today almost all traces have disappeared, in some places remains are still to be seen. The knowledge is based on sparse traditional old pictures. In 1461 the castle was destroyed by Bavarian troops, and then built up only partially. The margrave nurse moved its headquarters to Schwabach; Kammerstein served the Marquis only a short time as a hunting lodge in the vast forests around the mountain heath, was to lock Ratibor completed in Roth. After further destruction, the castle was never repaired and fell more and more, the Thirty Years' War gave her the rest from the ruins were broken stones, on the northern slope of the mountain a quarry has been created. As of yet standing, now damaged by lightning keep this stood in the way, the government decided in Ansbach in 1782 for the demolition, in order not to interfere with the continued use of the quarry.

Kammerstein belonged to the Principality of Ansbach in 1792 acquired by Prussia, which was in the Frankish Empire Circle from 1500. As part of the Principality of place ( February 1806 ) fell in the Treaty of Paris by way of exchange to the Kingdom of Bavaria.

In 1875 the spelling of the community Cammerstein was officially changed to stone chamber.

On November 24, 2002 Mayor Walter Quick and representatives of the churches have expressed an official moral rehabilitation of the convicted as a witch Ottilia Kuenin from Kammerstein.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, a part of the dissolved municipality Günzersreuth was incorporated. On 1 May 1978, the municipalities Barthelmes Herzogenaurach and Volkersgau were added. The latter was formed on 20 February 1960 in parts of the former area municipality under Reichenbach and had received officially the name Volkersgau on 9 June 1960.

Community partnerships

Kammerstein has since 17 May 1986, a community partnership to Comune Quinzano, a district of Verona in the Italian region Veneto. 28 August 2011 was established with the Municipality of Petrovac - Drinić from Bosnia and Herzegovina another partnership.

Regular events

  • Tell a fixed chamber Stone: Every year on the first weekend of May, many knights groups as well as medieval music and dance groups in Kammerstein for Tell a solid. The Feast leads for years the hiking season to the Heideberg and promotes the legends trail that begins at the so-called oven plate ( an increase in the forest, on Sundays as well the second part of the word festival takes place). It is organized by the evangelical pastor of the church in conjunction with the local politicians, and annually attracts thousands of visitors to the community. Since 2010, the word festival with its distributed stations in Kammerstein, Kühedorf and on the oven plate overall the largest medieval market of Middle Franconia dar.
  • Kammersteiner Forest Market: Also of importance is the chamber Wald market, on Saturday held each year a week before the first Advent. Under the theme " Forest, Winter, Christmas," especially products from the region are offered. Local clubs enrich the product line of farmers and direct marketers site.
