Kamperland

Kamperland part of the island municipality of Noord- Beveland in the Dutch province of Zeeland in the Oosterschelde.

Population Development

In 2001, the population of the town core was still 1339 people. In 2006 there were already 1407. Statistics on the total population that involves, also includes surrounding areas in 2049 inhabitants ( January 2008).

History

The region where today the Kamperland stands, was formerly known as camping and is already mentioned in the year 976. The name derives from the Latin campus, the "field" or " closed areas ". From the year 1170 camping was listed as a separate municipality. Over the centuries the town developed further and from the region camping was the place Kamper country.

Tourism

Kamper country offers two marinas that are sought after especially for yachtsmen. In the summer months boats take anglers from Kamperland to the fishing grounds.
