Kamyar Abdi

Kamyar Abdi (Persian كاميار عبدي ) is an Iranian archaeologist.

Life

He received his MA in Near Eastern Languages ​​and Cultures at the University of Chicago in 1997 and his PhD in 2002 at the University of Michigan in anthropology. He had from 2002 as an assistant professor at the Department of Anthropology at Dartmouth College. His research interests include sedentism, food production (agriculture and pastoralism ), urban development, state-building and writing in the ancient Near East, especially Iran.

Abdi is the editor of the journal Iranian archeology and history. He teaches at the Institute of Archaeological Sciences at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.
