Kanab is a city and the county seat of Kane County, Utah.

Geography

The site covers an area of 36.4 km ² ( 14.1 mi ²) of it is 0.1 km ² water surface in the form of Kanab Creek, a tributary of the Colorado River. He is centrally located between Bryce Canyon National Park, the Grand Canyon ( North Rim ), Zion National Park and the Grand Staircase- Escalante National Monument. In Kanab U.S. Highway 89A ends at U.S. Highway 89

History

The first settlers on the site of the later Kanab was Levi Steward in 1864. Town of Kanab As was 1870, when ten families Mormon pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints moved to the area.

On 10 January 2006, the City Council approved a controversial resolution Kanab analogous to the goals of the Quiverfull movement: The Natural Family: A Vision for the City of Kanab, codifying the definition of a "natural family". ( Eng.: The Natural Family: A vision for the town of Kanab, with the definition of a natural family is codified )
