Kanal Lokal

Local channel was the name of four Swedish television stations that were broadcasting in the most populous parts of Sweden in autumn 2005. The four television stations are:

  • Channel local Gothenburg sends in Greater Gothenburg on the Sendeanalagen Uddevalla, Trollhättan and Bäckefors.
  • Channel sends local Skåne Skåne on the Sendeanalagen Hörby, Malmö and Helsingborg.
  • Local channel Stockholm sends in the Stockholm area on the Sendeanalagen transmitter Nacka, Västerås, Uppsala and Östhammar.
  • Östergötland Östergötland in the local channel sends over the Sendeanalagen Motala, Linköping and Norrköping.

History

The origins of local channel lying in a local channel in Östergötland with the name NollEttan. The transmission mode of this channel was launched on Freeview in 1999. Plans to expand to Gothenburg, Skåne and Stockholm was established in 2005. It was under the channel name NollEttan First attempts in Skåne in the spring. In September 2005, the transmission operation began in Stockholm and in November of the same year in Gothenburg, both ran under the name NollEttan.

The company was founded largely by the venture capital firm IT provider. At the start channel began to cooperate with local Expressen, a Swedish newspaper that provides the news channels. In October 2005, the company announced plans to send free-to -air.

Local channel initially had problems with the distribution of its channels, in particular in order to feed into the vital Com Hem cable network. Only in Östergötland had one a free channel from the beginning of the local cable networks. In April 2006 it was announced that local channel will get a free time slot in the Com Hem basic package for Gothenburg. By October 2007, but it took until local channel was fed in all four areas of distribution in the Com Hem cable network.

In December 2007, local channel terminated the contract with Expressen to make news available for the Stockholm channel. This meant that the program of local channel Stockholm was shortened and programs of other local channel versions were taken.

In March 2008, the broadcasting licenses of local channel were extended and local channel still got the broadcasting license for Småland, Dalarna and for parts of Norrland.

Mid-January 2009 was forced to declare bankruptcy in advertising revenue due to local channel drastic slumps.

Reception in German-speaking

The four channel local programs were among the few in German-speaking free- Swedish stations. They were sent to mid-January 2009 on Thor 2 to 5.0 degrees East.
