Kanembu ( also French Kanembou or Kanem ) is the language of living in western Chad Kanembu people.

The name of Kanem -bu means "people of Kanem ." The language was the official language of this empire and the Kanem -Bornu from.

The Kanembu are a subgroup of the Kanuri and speak accordingly a dialect of the Kanuri language. Their number is more than 350,000. Kanembu is spoken mainly in the Chadian prefectures of Kanem, Lac and Chari- Baguirmi.
