Kangra (Hindi: काँगड़ा, Kagara ) is a town in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It belongs to the same district.

The 733 m high city has 9155 inhabitants. The literacy rate is 83 %, far higher than the Indian average of 59.5 %.

Here unite the rivers Bener and Majhi.

The history -rich city that was once called Nagarkot, houses the temple Jawalaji, Brijeshwari Devi, Chamunda Devi, Baba Baroh and Baijnath. One attraction is the fort of Kangra Fort

Kangra was the first seat of Raja Sansar Chand II ( 1775-1823 ).

In Kangra Kangra Valley makes the Railway Station, a very popular with tourists narrow-gauge railway that runs between Pathankot and Joginder Nagar. The train is on the list of candidates as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
