The Kanin Peninsula is a protruding into the Barents Sea, belonging to Russia Peninsula in North-East Europe.

The peninsula is located at the northeast exit at the junction of the White Sea to the Barents Sea, a marginal sea of ​​the Arctic Ocean. To the west it borders the Mesenbucht, part of the White Sea, in the east it borders the Tschoschabucht. It extends north of the western part of the North Russian lowlands into which it passes to the south, approximately in a north-south direction to Cape Kanin at the northwestern tip. Its length is about 200 km, the southern end is located 300 km northeast of the northern Russian city of Arkhangelsk.

The highest elevation on the Kanin Peninsula are the " Kanin Mountains " with up to 242 m altitude. The vegetation is typical tundra. The average annual temperature at the Cape Kanin is -1.1 ° C, the coldest months are January and February, the warmest July and August.

Politics and Culture

It belongs to the autonomous district of the Nenets. The Nenets who live in other places in the Schoina and Kiya, run reindeer breeding.
