Kankan is a city in the east of Guinea, West Africa has about 115,000 residents.
Kankan is the third largest city in the country and lies on the River Milo, a tributary of the Niger. It is the capital of the prefecture Kankan Kankan and region. The city is known for its university, its students and Religion mango trees.
History
The city was founded in the 17th century by the Soninke, the capital of Baté Empire and major trading center especially for cola was. 1879 Kankan was defeated by Samory Touré and occupied in 1891 by France.
