Kankelau
Kankelau is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.
Geography
The village is located about five kilometers north of Schwarzenbek.
History
Kankelau was first mentioned in 1230 in Ratzeburg tithe register as Cankelowe for the first time. The arrangement of farmsteads as Rundling to the Brink called the village square and the name of the village lead to the conclusion a planned settlement predominantly Slavic peasants during the high medieval eastward expansion. Since 1948, the community is part of the Office Schwarzenbek country.
