Kannemeyeria

Kannemeyeria is an extinct Dicynodontier from the Middle Triassic. Fossils of the genus have been found in Argentina, South Africa, India and possibly in Australia. He probably had a worldwide distribution, during the Triassic Period all of the continents in the super-continent Pangaea were connected.

Features

Kannemeyeria reaches a length of up to three meters and a weight of almost one ton. The body was barrel-shaped and heavy, the rib cage, very large, shoulder girdle, pelvis and legs were built heavy and solid. The muzzle was pointed and narrow. On the head, the parietal ( parietal ) formed a high ridge.

Kannemeyeria belonged to the Dicynodontiern, a group of therapsids ( mammal -like reptiles formerly known as ) on. They probably lived in herds.
