Kanthararom District

Amphoe Kanthararom ( Thai อำเภอ กันทรารมย์ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northeastern province of Si Saket. The Si Saket province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan.

Geography

Amphoe Kanthararom borders the following districts (from the south clockwise): Amphoe to the Non Khun Nam Kliang, Mueang Si Saket and Yang Chum Noi in the province of Si Saket, as well as to the Amphoe Khueang Nai Mueang Ubon Ratchathani, Warin Chamrap and Samrong of Ubon Ratchathani province.

History

The district Kanthararom was in 1897 under the name Uthai Sisaket ( อุทัย ศี ร์ ษะ เก ษ ) was established. It was renamed in 1913 Kanthararom. In 1926, the administration building in Ban Khambon ( บ้าน คำ บอน ) was opened in Tambon Dun.

Management

Amphoe Kanthararom is divided into 16 communes ( tambon), which in turn in 169 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Kanthararom ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล กันทรารมย์ ), consisting of parts of the tambon Dun.

There are also 16 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.

Note: The missing numbers refer to the tambon which now belong to the Amphoe Nam Kliang.
